To draw this cartoon Stegosaurus step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: Draw a small, curved line that's similar to the letter C for this cartoon stegosaurus' eye. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. When you get the shape right, darken the line and make it thicker for the eyelashes. The shape should be like a half-circle minus the bottom. Make the tips pointy.

Step 2: Under the eye, draw a small circle for the stegosaurus' iris. Place the circle close to the right edge of the eye.

Step 3: In the middle of the iris, draw a smaller circle and shade it in for this cute dinosaur's pupil. On either side of the pupil, draw a tiny circle for highlights. You can draw only one circle if you'd like. Above the eye, draw a long, curved line for the brow.

Step 4: On the lower, left side of the eye, draw a curved line for the stegosaurus' muzzle. The line should be similar to the letter C. Curve the bottom of the line toward the eye to create the smiling mouth. Add a short line on the bottom tip for a smile line.

Step 5: To the right of the mouth, draw a curved, horizontal line for the bottom of the stegosaurus' head. Inside the muzzle, at the top, draw a tiny circle with a curved line above it for the nostril.

Step 6: Draw the head as a long, curved line above the dinosaur's eye. This line should start on top of the muzzle, then it should curve to the right and then back down to end to the right of the eye. Pay attention to how high above the eye the line is.

Step 7: Under stegosaurus' head, draw a line that slopes down and to the right for the neck and chest. To the right of the chest, draw the first front leg. The leg is made up of two curved vertical lines for the sides and a short, horizontal line to close off the shape at the bottom.

Step 8: To the right of the front leg, draw a curved horizontal line for the underside of the stegosaurus. To the right of that, draw the big hind leg. The hind leg is made up of long, wavy lines for the sides and a short horizontal line at the bottom. The top of the hind leg should be very wide and it should gradually get thinner toward the bottom.

Step 9: To the right of the hind leg, draw a line that slopes up for the first part of the stegosaurus' tail. At the top, angle the line back to the left so that it ends on the back of the head. The top of the line should be wavy to create the curved back and top of the tail.

Step 10: To the left of the front leg, draw a short, L-shaped line for the leg that's on the other side of the stegosaurus' body. To the left of the hind leg, draw a small, square-like shape for the hind leg that's on the other side of the body too.

Step 11: Draw four small pentagons across the back for the distinctive stegosaurus plates. Curve the corners of each pentagon so that they're not so pointy. The bottoms of the pentagons should overlap the top of the body. Make the pentagon in the middle big and the pentagons on the sides small. Near the tip of the tail, draw a couple of small, cone-like shapes for the spikes called the thagomizer.

Step 12: Draw a series of short angled lines to the left of the plates for the set of plates that are on the other side of the stegosaurus' body. Most of these plates will be hidden behind the first set of plates, so only draw the top parts. To the left of the spikes, draw two more short angled, lines to complete the spikes on the thagomizer.

Step 13: Go over the lines with a pen or marker to make your cartoon giraffe drawing permanent. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your chibi stegosaurus drawing any way you'd like, using color pencils markers or crayons! For this look, draw a stripes along the top part of the body using dark green. Color the rest of the body yellow-green. Use yellow for the underside of the body and spikes. Color the plates light brown or orange. Use light and dark brown for the eye.
