The Written step-by-step video tutorial:
For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.
Step 1: Draw a circle near the bottom of the paper as a guide for the top part of the jackalope's body. First make four small marks to indicate the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a coin or a lid. For a more detailed guide on the different ways to draw a circle check out this tutorial: Four simple ways to draw a circle.
Step 2: On the top, left side, draw another circle as a guide for the head using the same technique. This circle should be about one-third the size of the first one. Don't draw these circles too far apart, otherwise the jackalope's neck will be too long.
Step 3: To the left of the head, draw a small arc as a guide for the jackalope's muzzle. Make the left edge of the mark a bit flat.
Step 4: Draw a curved, horizontal line across the entire head as a guide to help you place the jackalope's facial features later.
Step 5: On top of the head, draw two long, thin arcs as guides for the jackalope's ears. Tilt the arcs to the right and make the tips pointy. Pay attention to their size in relation to the head.
