Written step-by-step video tutorial:
For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: Lightly sketch two small ovals for the cartoon red panda's eyes. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. When you get the shapes right, darken the lines. Pay attention to the spacing between the eyes. Inside each eye, draw two tiny circles for highlights. Shade in the eyes but don't overlap the tiny highlight circles. The eye on the right should be a tiny bit bigger than the eye on the left.

Step 2: Below the eye on the left, draw a small oval on its side for the nose. Inside the red panda's nose, near the top, draw a thinner oval for a highlight. Shade the nose but don't overlap the thin highlight oval.

Step 3: Lightly sketch a line that starts to the left of the eye and curves under the nose for the muzzle. Don't draw the line too far down below the chibi red panda's nose. When you get the shape right, darken the line.

Step 4: To the left, lightly sketch a line that curves up and to the right, high above the eyes, for the head. Along the path of the line, at the top, draw three small, spike-like shapes for a bit of fur. Darken the rest of the line. Pay attention how high above the eyes the top of the red panda's head is.

Step 5: To the right of the head, draw a big, triangular shape with curved sides for the first ear. Inside the chibi red panda's ear, draw a curved line along with smaller spike-like shapes for the ear structure and fur.

Step 6: On the left side, draw a similar triangular shape for the other ear. Sketch lightly at first. When you get the shape right, darken the lines. Add a small line inside for the red panda's ear structure.

Step 7: Below the ear on the right, draw three small, spike-like shapes for the fur on the cheek. Draw a longer line at the bottom that almost meets the muzzle for the bottom of the cartoon red panda's head.

Step 8: Under the head, lightly sketch a line that curves to the right for the red panda's chest. Darken the line when you get the shape right. At the top, draw a couple of short, curved lines for fur.

Step 9: To the right of the chest, draw two vertical lines that slope inward at the bottom for the red panda's first leg. On the lower, left side, draw a curved line for the foot. Close off the shape at the bottom.

Step 10: To the left, draw a similar shape but make it a bit smaller for the other front leg. To the right of the first leg, draw a short, horizontal line for the underside of the chibi red panda's body.

Step 11: To the right, draw a similar shape for the first hind leg. Add the curved line at the bottom for the red panda's foot. This leg should be slightly bigger than the front leg.

Step 12: Under the cartoon red panda's body, near the right, draw the other hind leg the same way but make it smaller. Lightly sketch a line that curves from the hind leg to the bottom of the ear for the rest of the body. When you get the shape of the line right, darken it.

Step 13: On the top, right side of the body, draw a long, curved line for the first part of the red panda's bushy tail. Draw a few pointy spikes at the top for the furry tip and then add another curved line on the left to finish the tail.

Step 14: Go over the lines with a pen or marker to make your cartoon red panda drawing permanent. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your chibi red panda drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use dark brown to add the dark areas on the face, legs and tail stripes. Color lightly. Using red-orange, separate the white markings on the face and then color the rest. Blend the red-orange with the dark brown. Leave the red panda's ears, muzzle and face markings blank. Add a bit of gray on the ears and head for shadows. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
