To draw this cartoon Triceratops step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.

For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.

Step 1: Start by lightly sketching a small circle for the killer whale's eyeball. The bigger you draw the circle, the bigger the eye will be. When you get the shape right, darken the line. Draw a line around the top of the circle for the orca's outer eye. The line should wrap around the circle. Don't draw it too far away. Make the line thicker to represent eyelashes. The tips should be thin and pointy. The resulting shape of the outer eye should be similar to the letter C on top of the eyeball.

Step 2: Inside the eyeball, on the top and bottom, draw two tiny circles for highlights. In the middle of the eyeball, draw a small circle for the killer whale's pupil but don't overlap the highlight circles.

Step 3: On the lower, right side of the eye, lightly sketch a curved line that's similar to the letter U for the orca's mouth. Pay attention to the size and position of this line in relation to the eye. When you get it right, darken it.

Step 4: Starting at the top of the whale's mouth, lightly sketch a line that curves up and to the left for the head. The head should be big. Pay attention to how high above the eye the top of the line is. The front part of the head should be pretty flat. When you get the shape right, darken the line. Under the mouth, draw a line that curves to the left for the bottom part of the killer whale's body. Pay attention to the length of these lines. Don't draw them too far to the left.

Step 5: On the bottom of the body, lightly sketch a curved line for the first pectoral flipper. The shape should be similar to a tilted oval or a round triangle. When you get the shape right, darken the line. To the right of the orca, draw a small, curved line for the flipper on the other side of the body.

Step 6: On top of the body, draw a rounded, triangle-like shape for the orca's dorsal fin. Don't draw the fin too big. Sketch lightly at first and only darken the line when you get the shape right.

Step 7: To the left of the dorsal fin, draw a line that curves down for the rest of the top of the body. To the left of the flipper, draw a wavy line that curves up slightly for the rest of the underside of the killer whale's body.

Step 8: To the left of the body, draw a line that's similar to a tilted and curved letter V for the first part of the tail. On top of that, draw a smaller, curved, triangle-like shape for the other side of the killer whale's tail.

Step 9: To the left of the eye, lightly sketch a big, curved, triangular shape for the orca's distinctive spot. Darken the line when you get the shape right. Close to the top of the head, draw a small line for the blowhole.

Step 10: Starting on the left side of the mouth, draw a line that curves toward the flipper for the underside of the body. Draw a long, wavy line close to the bottom of the body for more of the color separation on the underside. Make the line curved in the middle so that it looks like a wave. For a simpler version, just draw a straighter line.

Step 11: Go over the lines with a pen or marker to make your killer whale drawing permanent. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your orca drawing any way you'd like, using color pencils markers or crayons! Draw the bottom of the eye using black. Color the top of the whale's body black but don't overlap the eye big spot. Use dark blue and light blue to color the eye. Don't forget to pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace.
